“It’s not that we poor men are so powerful to be able to banish the devil.
It’s that God gives us the power.”
Gabriele Nanni
Exorcists are in the bible! There were a group of itinerant Jewish exorcists called the Sons of Sceva who went around casting out demons from people – only one day it didn’t work. The demons spoke to them and said, “Jesus I know, and Paul we are acquainted with, but who are you?” They got a beating so bad that it left them naked and bleeding and running for their lives. They used the name without knowing the person behind the name. Lesson learned. Mess with the devil and you’d better have a relationship with the Lord.
Halloween time is the Christian observances of “All Hallows’ Eve, All Saints’ Day, and All Souls’ Day” which is a time dedicated to remembering faithful departed believers and the saints. It is a time of honoring those that have been martyred for their faith and to keep sober about our own relationship with God.
Today as you celebrate what has been crafted into an $8 billion dollar holiday (yes that number is correct!) remember the roots of our Christian heritage and those that have gone before us and given their very lives for the cause of Christ! We have family – brothers and sisters in the Lord – that today are giving their very lives on foreign soils for their faith. Pray for our saints overseas!
“Pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”
Ephesians 6:18 (NIV)
One fateful decision landed me smack in the middle of my own Wilderness…
Though I was obeying God’s voice, I spent the next several years “walking on water,” even though it felt more like I was treading water. A Journey Out of the Wilderness is for people going through a rough time—a Wilderness experience—where you feel as though you are “down for the count” and ready to give up. Wilderness Wanderers feel as though they are doing laps around the mountain, passing the same tree over and over again wondering, “Will this never end?” However, being in the Wilderness will be one of the most transformational times of your life.
