“Every tomorrow has two handles.
We can take hold of it with the handle of anxiety or the handle of faith.”
Henry Ward Beecher
The phone rang, yet again, and I dreaded looking at the number that was displayed. My fear was confirmed when I saw the number of the nurse’s office at my son’s school. They called several times to send my child home because he kept throwing up at school. I knew he was not sick and I could not figure out what was going on.
As a mom, it was tearing me apart seeing my child sent home almost daily. I called my friend to pray over him. She felt impressed that it had to do with anxiety and that he was not sick. We led him in a prayer to lay his worries at the feet of Jesus.
After we prayed for him, he was full of joy. He said he was happy. I heard him in his bed singing songs – definitely a sign of joy. Together we came up with some Bible Scriptures about peace that we wrote on index cards.
I sent him to school the next day with the Scriptures we had written firmly in his back pocket. He made it through the entire day without a phone call from the nurse. He said he began to get that feeling in his throat, but he laid it at the feet of Jesus and got through the entire day just fine. He NEVER even looked at the Scriptures in his pocket. He simply had peace because he knew they were there.
He is a pure example of childlike faith. As we give our cares and anxieties to God, we can go to bed happy. We can sing our song of joy – knowing that God has it under control.
What are you concerned about today? What are you stressing over?
Lay it at the feet of Jesus!
“When I am afraid, I will trust in You.
In God, whose Word I praise, in God I trust, I will not fear.”
Psalm 56:3 (HCSB)
One fateful decision landed me smack in the middle of my own Wilderness…
Though I was obeying God’s voice, I spent the next several years “walking on water,” even though it felt more like I was treading water. A Journey Out of the Wilderness is for people going through a rough time—a Wilderness experience—where you feel as though you are “down for the count” and ready to give up. Wilderness Wanderers feel as though they are doing laps around the mountain, passing the same tree over and over again wondering, “Will this never end?” However, being in the Wilderness will be one of the most transformational times of your life.
