“And California Dreamn’ won the race by a nose,” said the announcer. The racing fans erupted with cheers because their favorite horse had won! I didn’t have a win ticket on that horse but I sure wish I would have.
I grew up going to the horse track on the weekends. At times, my parents would give me money to bet on my favorite horse. Sometimes I would choose a horse because it was pretty or looked big or a host of other things that the experts didn’t care about.
At the horse track there are three different types of bets you can place on a horse. You can buy a win, place, or show ticket.
A “show” ticket means that if your horse comes in first, second, or third you win.
A “place” ticket means your horse has to come in first or second.
But the “win” ticket means that your horse has to win. Even if your horse comes in second place you lose. If you buy a win ticket on a horse then that means you are all in.
One day in prayer I heard the Lord say to me, “I purchased a win ticket on you!”
“I was blown away – a win ticket on me Lord?”
He placed everything He had on me to “win” – not just come in the top three or even a close second, but a win.
God was all in!
When God picks his horse to win, it is not by looks or by track record or by the practice stats of the horse. God picks his horse out of love. He fashioned the horse that He formed to do good works. He created that horse to win.
God places His bet on us to win. He has no plan “B” or contingency plan. He plays big and He plays to win! He wants us to play big just like He does. It is a strategic partnership that we have with Him.
Today begin to play to “win” this race called life. You have a cloud of witnesses in Heaven cheering you on.
If God placed all his bets on you and sent His very best to save you – RUN!
Run dear brother and sister with all that you have.
Run your race to win!

Though I was obeying God’s voice, I spent the next several years “walking on water,” even though it felt more like I was treading water. A Journey Out of the Wilderness is for people going through a rough time—a Wilderness experience—where you feel as though you are “down for the count” and ready to give up. Wilderness Wanderers feel as though they are doing laps around the mountain, passing the same tree over and over again wondering, “Will this never end?” However, being in the Wilderness will be one of the most transformational times of your life.
