“Before I tell you the cost”, the hospital billing lady said, “You may not want to be going out anytime soon to buy a Gucci purse. Long pause. Your son’s medical bill is $114,000!” That was before insurance, but not including all the other doctor bills that came later in the process for my son’s hospitalization and surgery.
“A Gucci purse?” I thought to myself. “I’m not really the Gucci kinda gal.” (I even had to look up how to spell Gucci when writing this blog!)
I may not be a Gucci girl or a name brand gal, but I am definitely into God’s purse and His name brand!
I texted my friend the amount we owed and his response – priceless. “Wow! That is a half million minimum in restitution the enemy owes you!” That took me by surprise and helped me snap out of the sticker shock I was facing.
As we keep our focus on God, everything we need will come to us. We need to keep our eyes focused on God and trust Him with our bills. You may need $10 if you are a starving college student or $100,000 dollars for medical bills, but either way it is the same level of faith – it’s only a number. The trust and faith is still the same, it just may seem like a bigger game at times. As you begin to trust Him in your finances, it won’t matter the number and the amount won’t scare you. You will have broken through the number barrier.
One way to keep from being overwhelmed is to realize that God keeps a ledger and will repay everything that has been taken from you. He is the God of the Recompense. In the Bible there was a lady who had to leave her land and go to another country while they were in a severe famine. In the end, God gave her back not only her land, but everything that she would have earned while she was gone. That is the God we serve. God sees everything we have gone through and keeps account of it.
If you have a huge financial trial facing you because the enemy has attacked you, God sees everything. He will recompense all that has been stolen from you – whether that is money spent on medical bills or a business deal gone wrong. His restitution is bigger than anything we can imagine.

One fateful decision landed me smack in the middle of my own Wilderness…
Though I was obeying God’s voice, I spent the next several years “walking on water,” even though it felt more like I was treading water. A Journey Out of the Wilderness is for people going through a rough time—a Wilderness experience—where you feel as though you are “down for the count” and ready to give up. Wilderness Wanderers feel as though they are doing laps around the mountain, passing the same tree over and over again wondering, “Will this never end?” However, being in the Wilderness will be one of the most transformational times of your life.
